Sara Wissén is a doctoral candidate in political science at the Swedish Defence University. She has double bachelor's degrees in political science and military history, as well as a master's degree in political science from the Swedish Defence University. She has also worked at the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, and within the security sector.
In her dissertation, Sara examines narratives about the future of the liberal international order and liberal democracy, with a focus on Europe and the United States. Through a narrative perspective, the dissertation focuses on the stories told by political actors, how they are shaped by and respond to growing geopolitical tensions, and what they reveal about the trajectory and future of the liberal international order. A particular interest is hope as a political and narrative device.
